Story line:

…Red ants from pluto are whispering sweet nothings, unfortunately snot blurping monsters from the animal forest on Mars were hopping on ice making too much noise and no one could hear the ants. Flying apple (men) from the darkness death tribe came to the rescue with jumping pillows that killed the noise and saved the red ants sweet nothings …

Function:

Costume – Flying apple – super hero costume

Design challenge: Create a flying apple super hero costume. (This may use elements that use the same base as the red ants from pluto costume but with it’s own features.)

Considerations:

• Subject to approval the apple hero costume will be worn while swinging on swing sets under the dazzling swinging moon, or while carrying out another activity like flying in front of a giant fan/wind tunnel, so they need to be easy to get on and off. Consider designing this costume/headwear as one piece. (ie cape joined to apple head)

• The capes should be nice and flowing to give the illusion of flying, while on a swing or in front of a fan.

• Multiples of this will be required.

Story line:

…Red ants from Pluto are whispering sweet nothings, unfortunately snot blurping monsters from the animal forest on Mars were hopping on ice making too much noise and no one could hear the ants. Flying apple (men) from the darkness death tribe came to the rescue with jumping pillows that killed the noise and saved the red ants sweet nothings … They eat Maltesers to make their nothings sweet and they whisper into microphones connected to speakers.

Function: Costume/headwear with feelers and wings

Design challenge:

Create a red ant costume/ headwear to be worn in whispering booth and possibly roving. You can only whisper when you are a red ant. You whisper into a microphone that is connected to a speaker that blasts the sound into the river (not really but it could look like it does) or the whispers could go to somewhere else in the installation.

• This idea requires some brainstorming as to what and why the ants might be whispering. Ideas? Will brainstorm with kids as well.

Create a blurpy shaped monster that also functions as a desk that may have various sound making devices that are operated by visitors to the installation. (such as toys keyboards etc.)

• This monster may be viewed from all angles – even from outside the Edge looking in through one of the square windows

• When six to eight people are using the monster to make noise they look like part of the monster.

Create a giant dazzling moon that swings from the ceiling in the auditorium.

• The moon could swing in the space. How could that be achieved? Is it powered by humans or is there a way to keep it swinging?

• There will be a weight that this artefact can't exceed because it’s being hung.

…A make up artist at the Gabba was making the world’s largest Blueberry pancake, unfortunately a fashion designer from Candytown was hunting for troll fairies, fortunately the Gods from New York were flossing and they inspired everyone to floss, even the troll fairies

Design challenge:

• Create a Troll Fairy character with big interesting hair, kind of scary, but cute, with a feature button to be pressed for sound.

• The Troll Fairy greets visitors with the 1 rule of Rumpus when you press the button, which is a blueberry on chest or belly button, at kid height.

Considerations:

• The troll is kid height but with big hair so they can reach the button, but has a presence that immediately attracts people. • Troll could also have a flag that has the rule on it, as per Zylah's drawing and Nina's video.
