Assure them that there are options that can be utilized for example changing of fonts and sizes and may even be able to have a text to speech option available for them depending on device used
Katrina T, 2022/10/13 09:17
Visual Display - you can change the font and size of text on word documents. Perhaps they needs to have their eyes tested / need glasses. Literacy problem in reading?

Explain and show how devices have Accessibility settings and other ways of adjusting views and ways of using the device so you can see and use them. If their problem is with screen size, suggest that they may be better to avoid small screen devices and stick to the larger screen devices.

Linda, 2021/03/05 11:36

Pam, 2020/12/24 10:53
Suggest to the customer to enrol in a basic computer class through the library.
Sheridan, 2020/11/27 12:37
As well as changing settings it might help to teach them some universal digital symbols and terminology to build up their basic digital literacy.
maree taylor, 2020/11/16 13:15
I am also in agreeance that Sharynn's approach is best.
Tracie, 2020/11/04 14:29

I would advise that the visual display on their device can be changed to suit their needs, plus other settings to read text to them, if that is what is required. probably needs more investigation to determine the specific problem.

Gauge what the customer means by I can't read it properly - sometimes this means even with glasses the font is too small or in some cases the person may not actually be able to read. Adapt with the situation and act accordingly.
Tegan, 2020/09/28 12:24
Understand what the learner means and then provide assistance in different option according

Sharynn's approach is a great one to follow.
Alexis, 2020/09/21 15:10
Clarifying what the learner means is the first step in addressing this issue. If it is not a literacy problem, I'd follow Sharynn's approach.
Jodie, 2020/09/18 14:33
Let them know they can change to suit their needs. I would go through and show them how they can change the size, fonts, brightness etc. and then ask them which one they're more comfortable with.
Chloe Patch, 2020/09/15 15:26
Ask for clarification and then give them a few tips on the basics of "reading" a computer or device.
Petrina, 2020/09/15 13:56
Find out if it's the text they can't see well enough or do they mean they don't understand what the apps etc mean. You can always make the icon, font bigger for them or make the screen brighter.
